Selection Process
Application shortlisting/screening, an optional Computer-Based Test (Subject Knowledge Test plus Aptitude Test) or direct shortlisting on age/qualification/experience, Interview, and a mandatory Medical Examination before joining.
NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has invited online applications for 147 Engineer and Executive posts across eight roles in its Renewable Energy segment, on a 3-year fixed-term basis (extendable by up to 2 more years). Eligibility and experience requirements differ by post, but the upper age limit is 35 years for all of them. Online applications close on 7 September 2026 at 18:00 Hrs.
Who Should Apply
- Engineer (RE-Civil) — 43 posts, for BE/B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg.) graduates in Civil Engineering with at least 3 years' post-qualification executive experience.
- Engineer (RE-Electrical) — 69 posts, for Electrical/Electronics/Power Systems engineering graduates with at least 3 years' relevant experience.
- Engineer (RE-Mechanical) — 9 posts, for Mechanical/Production/Industrial engineering graduates with at least 3 years' experience in power generation.
- Executive (RE-Human Resource) — 4 posts, for graduates with a postgraduate HR/Industrial Relations/Personnel Management qualification and at least 3 years' HR experience.
- Executive (RE-Finance) — 9 posts, for qualified CA/CMA candidates with at least 1 year of post-qualification experience in Finance/Accounts.
- Engineer (RE-Safety) — 7 posts, for engineering graduates with an Industrial Safety diploma (or a dedicated Safety/Fire engineering degree) and at least 3 years' safety experience.
- Executive (RE-CSR) — 5 posts, for a relevant postgraduate degree (or MSW/MBA/Engineering graduate) with at least 3 years' CSR or socio-economic survey experience.
- Executive (RE-Rajbhasha) — 1 post, for a Hindi/English Master's degree with at least 3 years' translation or Hindi-terminology work experience.
You can apply for only one of these eight posts — pick the one that matches your qualification and experience before you start the form.
Eligibility & Age Limit
Each post has its own qualification and experience bar — engineering degrees for the four technical/safety roles, a postgraduate HR qualification for HR, CA/CMA for Finance, a relevant postgraduate or engineering degree for CSR, and a Hindi/English Master's degree for Rajbhasha. Most posts require a minimum of 65% marks in the qualifying degree (55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates), and 3 years of post-qualification executive experience (1 year for the Finance post, excluding your articleship period).
Upper age limit: 35 years for every post, computed as on the last date of the online application (7 September 2026). Age relaxation, where a vacancy is identified for that category: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PwBD, and as per Government guidelines for Ex-Servicemen.
Check your exact age as on the cut-off date before applying, since eligibility is judged as on the application closing date, not today. Since eligibility runs on a marks percentage and several universities issue CGPA instead, you can also convert your CGPA to check where you stand — though you'll still need your university's own official conversion formula as a document when you apply.
Salary & Pay Scale
NGEL states an approximate CTC of ₹11,00,000 per annum for these posts, covering fixed and variable components, HRA, Mediclaim (self, spouse, dependent parents, and two children), performance-based variable pay, and a satisfactory service grant. This is indicative only — actual remuneration depends on your experience, place of posting, and other terms of appointment, and the notification doesn't break this down into a monthly pay scale or pay level.

- Register with a valid, active e-mail ID, since NGEL is not responsible for any bounced-back e-mails.
- Fill in the online application form and upload every required document (see the Documents Required section below).
- Pay the ₹500 registration fee online if you're General/EWS/OBC — SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen and female candidates are exempt.
- Submit the application and download the system-generated application slip carrying your unique registration number, for your own records — nothing needs to be sent by post.
Pick your one post carefully before you start: if you submit more than one application for the same post, only the one with the higher application sequence number is considered, and you're only allowed to apply to one post overall.
How Are Candidates Selected
Application Shortlisting: NGEL may shortlist based on qualification, percentage of marks, and years of experience, before deciding whether to hold a further test.
Computer-Based Test (if conducted): A bilingual, 100-question, 2-hour test split into Section 1 (Subject Knowledge Test, discipline-specific) and Section 2 (Aptitude Test — numerical ability, reading comprehension, reasoning, general awareness, data interpretation), with negative marking of ¼ mark per wrong answer. It's held at 10 centres: Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Vishakhapatnam, Gandhinagar/Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Bhopal, and Raipur. In this path, the final 100-mark score is split as CBT (70), Experience (10), and Interview (20).
If No CBT Is Conducted: Candidates are shortlisted directly on age, qualification, and experience, then called for interview. Here the final 100-mark score is split as Experience (30) and Interview (70).
Experience Marks: You get 5 marks for meeting the minimum required experience, plus 1 extra mark per additional year, up to a maximum of 10 marks.
Medical Examination: Joining is subject to passing a medical examination at a specified government hospital (minimum district-hospital status); the hospital's decision is final and binding, with no relaxation in prescribed health standards.
Why This Job Matters
NTPC Green Energy Limited is NTPC's dedicated renewable-energy arm, working toward a 60 GW installed renewable capacity target by 2032 across solar, wind, battery storage, and hydrogen projects. With 147 posts spanning core engineering, safety, HR, finance, CSR, and Rajbhasha roles, this recruitment reflects the scale of that build-out — and as a PSU subsidiary, it offers a structured, transparent selection process rather than a purely discretionary hire.
The FreshersLike Take
Best fit: This suits an experienced professional (not a fresher — every post needs at least 1-3 years of relevant post-qualification experience) who wants to work on India's renewable energy expansion and doesn't mind a transferable posting across NGEL's stations, sites, and JVs nationwide.
Who should think twice: This is a fixed-term engagement of 3 years (extendable by up to 2 more), not a permanent government post — if long-term job security without periodic renewal matters most to you, weigh that against the CTC and the RE-sector experience on offer. The Engineer (RE-Electrical) and (RE-Civil) posts also draw the largest applicant pools (69 and 43 vacancies respectively), so competition there will likely be sharper than for the smaller specialist posts.
Practical tip: Your experience documentation needs to be airtight — the notification asks for appointment/offer/joining letters, confirmation or training-completion orders, promotion and role-assignment orders, service certificates, relieving letters, and two payslips per year, all in chronological order from your most recent job backward. Start assembling this now rather than at the last minute, since incomplete experience proof is one of the easiest ways to get screened out before you even reach the test or interview.
Documents Required
- Class X/Matriculation passing certificate/marksheet and PAN Card, as proof of name and date of birth (must match across all documents)
- Engineering consolidated marksheet/transcript/all-semester marksheets, or CA/CMA passing certificate, or Master's degree certificate with marksheets, as applicable to your post
- Marks conversion formula from your university/institute, if your qualifying document shows CGPA/CGPI/DGPA/CGI/CPI instead of a percentage
- Documents for your essential qualification (pass certificate, marksheets, mode, duration, specialisation) and any other qualification claimed
- Caste/Disability certificate for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/EWS candidates, as applicable (OBC-NCL certificate in central format for FY 2026-27; EWS Income & Asset certificate valid for FY 2026-27 based on FY 2025-26 income; Disability certificate via the Swalamban/UDID portal)
- Experience documents in chronological order (most recent first): experience certificate, appointment/offer/joining letter, confirmation or training-completion order, promotion order, role-assignment order, transfer order, service certificate, relieving letter, and two payslips per year
- Self-attested copies of age proof, all qualification marksheets/certificates, and experience certificates specifying your area of specialisation
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer at interview time, if you currently work in a Government organisation or PSU (or an undertaking to submit it within a stipulated time)
What Happens After Selection
Joining is subject to passing a medical examination at a specified government hospital (minimum district-hospital status) and being declared medically fit — this decision is final and binding, with no relaxation in prescribed health standards allowed. The final offer of appointment is issued based on your relative rank in the merit list from your cumulative score. Posting can be at any NGEL Station, Project, JV, or Subsidiary across India, and all posts are transferable at the sole discretion of management.
