IOB Recruitment 2026 — Generalist & Specialist Officers (JMGS I / MMGS II / MMGS III), 291 Posts

Indian Overseas Bank has invited online applications for 291 Generalist and Specialist Officer posts across 14 different roles in JMG Scale I, MMG Scale II, and MMG Scale III. Eligibility varies sharply by post — from a plain graduation degree with banking experience for the Generalist post to specialised engineering, IT security, credit, risk, or ex-defence/police backgrounds for the Specialist posts. • Assistant Manager (Security), JMGS I — 25 posts, for graduates who are retired JCOs (Army/Navy/Air Force), or Inspector-rank-and-above in Paramilitary/Police, with at least 5 years of service.

You may apply for more than one post if you meet the eligibility for each — but check the post-wise qualification and experience carefully, since the requirements differ enormously.

Eligibility & Age Limit

Every post has its own qualification and experience bar, all assessed as on the cut-off date of 1 August 2026:

Age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), 10 years for PwBD, 5 years for persons affected by the 1984 riots, and 5 years for Ex-Servicemen/Commissioned Officers with at least 5 years' military service. Cumulative relaxation across categories is available to SC/ST/OBC candidates, capped at an overall maximum age of 50 years.

Check your exact age as on the cut-off date before applying, since eligibility is judged as on 1 August 2026, not today.

Salary & Pay Scale

Pay scales run from ₹48,480–85,290 (JMGS I) through ₹64,820–93,960 (MMGS II) to ₹85,920–1,05,280 (MMGS III), plus DA, HRA, and CCA as per rules in force. Specialist Officers joining laterally in MMGS II and III also get Conveyance Expenses, Newspaper Cost, Telephone/Mobile Expenses, Residential Furniture, and Bank-owned or leased accommodation from the start of their probation. Selected candidates must also execute a Financial Service Indemnity Bond — ₹2,00,000 for JMGS I posts, ₹2,50,000 for MMGS II/III posts — committing to a minimum 3 years of active service.

How to Apply

2. Register online to receive your Registration Number and Password by e-mail and SMS.
3. Upload your photograph, signature, left thumb impression, and handwritten declaration exactly per the Bank's scanning specifications.

How Are Candidates Selected

Online Examination: For the Generalist post (Branch Management), it's 100 questions in 2 hours — English Language (25 questions, 30 minutes) and Professional Knowledge covering Banking Law & Practice, Indian Economy & Financial System, and Accounting & Financial Management (75 questions, 90 minutes). For all other posts, it's English Language (25Q, 30 min), General Awareness with special reference to Banking (25Q, 30 min), and post-specific Professional Knowledge (50Q, 60 min). There's no minimum qualifying mark for English or General Awareness, but you must clear the minimum in Professional Knowledge. Overall minimum qualifying marks: 35% for unreserved, 30% for reserved candidates, with a penalty of ¼ mark per wrong answer.

Interview: Worth 100 marks, assessing Role-related Industry Exposure, Subject Knowledge, and Communication Skills. Minimum qualifying marks: 50% for unreserved, 45% for reserved candidates.

Final Merit List: Weighted 80% Online Examination and 20% Interview.

Document Verification & Medical Examination: Shortlisted candidates must produce original documents at interview, and final appointment is subject to medical fitness and satisfactory verification of character, antecedents, and caste certificates where applicable.
