How Are Candidates Selected

Record Assistant: Written Test (55 marks: Telugu, English, General Knowledge, Mathematics, Social Studies) plus a Computer Practical Test on MS Office (20 marks), plus an Interview (25 marks) — 100 marks total.

Office Subordinate: Written Test (75 marks, same five subjects) plus an Interview (25 marks) — 100 marks total, no separate skill/computer stage.

Cook, Dhobi, Barber, Sweeper, Scavenger: A Read & Write Test (15 marks) plus a hands-on Skill Test specific to the trade (60 marks — e.g. hair-cutting and shaving for Barber, washing and stain removal for Dhobi, meal preparation and hygiene for Cook), plus an Interview (25 marks) — 100 marks total.

Candidates are shortlisted for interview at roughly 1:5 against vacancies based on written/skill test merit, though the Selection Committee can change this ratio. The final merit list is based on total marks across all stages; ties are broken in favour of the elder candidate.

Why This Job Matters

This recruitment fills outsourcing-basis support staff positions within the Andhra Pradesh Special Police's 7th (IR) Battalion at Maddipadu — roles that keep a police battalion's daily operations running (records, cleaning, catering, laundry, grooming) rather than frontline policing posts. It's notable for being open to candidates with quite basic educational qualifications (7th Class or even just literacy) for seven of the nine post types, making it accessible to applicants who might not qualify for most other government recruitment.

The FreshersLike Take

Best fit: A genuinely good fit for candidates in or near Prakasam District with basic literacy and a relevant trade skill (cooking, laundry, barbering) who want a steady monthly income and are comfortable with an outsourcing-contract structure rather than permanent government service.

Who should think twice: These are outsourcing/contractual posts, not permanent government jobs — selected candidates have no preferential right to any future government appointment, and leaving within the first year (except for a permanent government job) means forfeiting ₹10,000 to the government, so weigh that commitment carefully before applying.

Practical tip: For Cook, Dhobi, Barber, Sweeper and Scavenger posts, 60 of the 100 marks come from a hands-on skill test, not the written portion — if you're applying for one of these, your practical trade ability matters far more than exam prep, so focus your preparation there.

Documents Required

  • Filled-in application form with a latest passport-size photo affixed
  • Attested copy of SSC (or equivalent) marks memo
  • Attested copies of marks memos of all years of the qualifying examination
  • Attested copies of Provisional/Permanent certificate of qualification
  • Attested copy of permanent registration certificate of the respective council/board, where applicable
  • Attested copy of the latest caste certificate (for SC/ST candidates)
  • Attested copy of the latest EWS certificate (for OC candidates claiming EWS)
  • Attested copies of study certificates from Class IV to X
  • Attested copy of experience certificate, if applicable
  • Attested copy of Aadhaar certificate (mandatory)

What Happens After Selection

Selected candidates must serve at least one year from the date of appointment; resigning earlier (unless taking up a permanent government job) requires forfeiting ₹10,000 to the government along with a signed affidavit/bond. Appointment is on an outsourcing basis, so selected candidates are not members of the regular police service and can have their appointment terminated at any time for administrative reasons. Outsourcing staff must reside at their bonafide headquarters and remain available 24 hours on call during emergencies, and no private practice is allowed during the contract period.
