SSC SI in Delhi Police and CAPFs Recruitment 2026 — 1,871 Posts

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has opened applications for 1,871 tentative Sub-Inspector posts across Delhi Police, the Central Armed Police Forces (CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, SSB), and the CISF Fire wing. Graduates aged 20-25 (18-30 for the Fire post) can apply online from 10 September 2026 to 30 September 2026, with selection through a written exam, physical tests, and a medical exam.

Who Should Apply

• Sub-Inspector (Executive), Delhi Police — Male (205 posts) and Female (112 posts) — Bachelor's degree from a recognised university; male candidates additionally need a valid LMV driving licence (motorcycle and car) by the date fixed for the physical test.
• Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs — 1,320 posts across CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, and SSB (male and female) — Bachelor's degree from a recognised university; candidates awaiting their final result can also apply provided they have the degree by the closing date.
• Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF — Male (234 posts) — Bachelor's degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, OR Matriculation plus a 3-year diploma in Mechanical/Civil/Electrical/Automobile/Chemical/Mining/Aeronautical/Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent.

Eligibility & Age Limit

Age is reckoned as on 01.08.2026. For all posts except SI (Fire) in CISF, age must be 20-25 years (born between 02.08.2001 and 01.08.2006). For SI (Fire) in CISF, age must be 18-30 years (born between 02.08.1996 and 01.08.2008). Age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 3 years for Ex-servicemen (after deducting military service rendered). For SI in Delhi Police specifically: widows/divorced/judicially separated women (not remarried) get relaxation up to 35 years (40 years if SC/ST), and departmental Delhi Police candidates (Constables, Head Constables, Assistant Sub-Inspectors) with at least 3 years' service can apply for Open vacancies up to 30 years (33 for OBC, 35 for SC/ST).

Salary & Pay Scale

All three post types — SI (GD) in CAPFs, SI (Executive) in Delhi Police, and SI (Fire) in CISF — carry the same pay scale: Level-6 (₹35,400-₹1,12,400) of the 7th CPC pay matrix. SI (GD) and SI (Fire) are Group 'B' (Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial); SI (Executive) in Delhi Police is Group 'C'. The notification states only the pay-matrix figure, not in-hand salary after allowances.

Fee is payable online only, via BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Visa/MasterCard/Maestro/RuPay debit cards, up to 1 October 2026. It's non-refundable and non-adjustable against any other exam. How to Apply

1. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on ssc.gov.in — an OTR from the old website (ssc.nic.in) will not work here.
2. Log in with your Registration Number and Password, then click 'Apply' against the SI in Delhi Police and CAPFs Examination, 2026.
3. Fill the online application form on the SSC website or the 'mySSC' mobile app.
4. Consider Aadhaar-based authentication during OTR — it exempts you from photo/signature rejection over format issues and from producing colour photographs or photo-ID at the exam venue.
5. Capture a live photograph as prompted (no pre-existing photo upload, good light, plain background, no cap/mask/glasses).
6. Upload your scanned signature in JPEG format (10-20 KB, about 6.0cm width x 2.0cm height).
7. Preview all details carefully before final submission.
8. Pay the ₹100 fee online, if applicable, and submit before 30 September 2026 (fee payment closes 1 October 2026).

How Are Candidates Selected

Paper-I (Computer Based Examination) — 1 hour, 100 objective questions across General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Knowledge & General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension (25 questions/25 marks each). Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer.

Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Endurance Test (PET) — height and chest norms vary by post and category (154-170cm depending on gender, category, and region); PET includes a 100m race, long-distance race, long jump, high jump, and shot put (male only), with different standards for men and women. This stage is qualifying/eliminating only and carries no marks; Ex-servicemen are exempt from PET but must still clear PST.

Paper-II (Computer Based Examination) — 2 hours total across the same four subjects as Paper-I, but harder and worth more (General Intelligence, General Knowledge, and Quantitative Aptitude at 20 questions/40 marks each in 1 hour, English Comprehension at 100 questions/200 marks in 1 hour). Negative marking of 0.50 marks per wrong answer. NCC Certificate holders get bonus marks (5% for 'C', 3% for 'B', 2% for 'A') on both papers.

Detailed Medical Examination (DME) — conducted by CAPF Medical Officers for all candidates who qualify Paper-II; a Review Medical Examination (RME) is available for those found unfit, and the Review Medical Board's decision is final.

What Happens After Selection

Selected candidates are on probation for 2 years, during which they must undergo training or pass examinations prescribed by the Controlling Authority; on successful completion, they are confirmed to their post. Finally selected Sub-Inspectors must also pass seven obstacle events (Vertical Board, Tarzan Swing, Monkey Crawl, Vertical Rope, and others) as part of training — failing these may mean not being retained in the Force. All posts except SI in Delhi Police carry All India Service Liability, meaning candidates can be posted anywhere in India.
