State Bank of India has invited online applications for 207 tentative Specialist Cadre Officer (SCO) posts on contract basis in its Wealth Management vertical, spanning seven roles from AVP Wealth up to Zonal Head, across 17 Circles nationwide. Candidates need a relevant graduate/postgraduate qualification plus post-qualification experience in wealth management, relationship management, or investment advisory. The online application window runs from 4 September to 25 September 2026.

Eligibility & Age Limit
All qualification, experience, and age criteria are reckoned as on 31 August 2026. Age windows vary sharply by post: 35–50 years for Zonal Head and Regional Head, 28–42 years for Relationship Manager-Team Lead and Investment Specialist, 28–40 years for Investment Officer, 26–42 years for VP Wealth, and 23–35 years for AVP Wealth. The maximum age shown is for Unreserved category candidates; relaxation in the upper age limit is available to reserved-category candidates as per Government of India guidelines, though the notification doesn't specify the exact number of relaxation years for each category. OBC candidates must fall under the Non-Creamy Layer and submit a certificate in the prescribed Government of India format, valid from 1 April 2026 up to the date of interview. EWS candidates need an Income & Asset Certificate for FY 2025-26 (valid for FY 2026-27) by the online application closing date, or they must apply under UR category instead.

Salary & Pay Scale
Pay is structured as Annual Cost to Company (CTC), not a monthly pay scale, and it's negotiable based on experience and current emoluments. Upper CTC ranges run from ₹27.10 lakh/year for Investment Officer up to ₹97 lakh/year for Zonal Head (Retail); Regional Head goes up to ₹66.40 lakh, Relationship Manager-Team Lead up to ₹51.80 lakh, Investment Specialist up to ₹44.50 lakh, VP Wealth up to ₹44.70 lakh, and AVP Wealth up to ₹30.20 lakh. Each CTC includes a Fixed Pay component, a separate Conveyance/Mobile/Medical allowance (₹0.92–₹1.16 lakh depending on post), Performance Linked Pay (0% to 45% of Fixed Pay), and an Annual Increment Band (0% to 20-25%) — so actual take-home will vary meaningfully based on performance rating, not just the headline CTC figure.

How Are Candidates Selected
Shortlisting — Based on qualification, suitability, and experience against the specific post applied for; the shortlisting committee decides the parameters, and meeting the minimum eligibility criteria alone doesn't guarantee an interview call. Shortlisting is provisional and without verification of original documents.
Interview — One or more rounds of Personal, Telephonic, or Video interview, carrying 100 marks. Specific skills (investment knowledge, portfolio advisory, communication) are tested here for the relevant posts. The qualifying cut-off is decided by the Bank.
CTC Negotiation — Conducted individually with each shortlisted candidate, either at the time of interview or after the interview process is complete.
Merit List — Prepared in descending order purely on interview score. If candidates tie at the cut-off, the older candidate (by age) ranks higher.
Why This Job Matters
State Bank of India is India's largest public sector bank, and this Specialist Cadre drive is entirely for its Wealth Management business — a distinct, high-value banking vertical serving Affluent, HNI, and UHNI clients, separate from general retail or branch banking. With 207 posts spanning junior AVP-level roles up to a single Zonal Head position, and CTCs running as high as ₹97 lakh, this is one of the more senior, experience-heavy specialist recruitments SBI has run, and it reflects the Bank's continued expansion of its private wealth management footprint across major cities nationwide.
The FreshersLike Take
Best fit: an excellent option for experienced wealth management, relationship banking, or investment advisory professionals who already meet a post's specific years-of-experience bar and want a senior, high-CTC banking role, with the flexibility to apply for more than one post at once. Who should think twice: these are contract roles (5 years, renewable for up to 4 more at the Bank's discretion, terminable by either side with 2 months' notice), not permanent SBI officer appointments, and candidates who previously accepted an offer in an earlier Wealth Management recruitment but didn't join, or who resigned after being engaged on contract for these same posts, are debarred from applying for 2 years — so past history with this specific recruitment track matters. Practical tip: for the five posts requiring Circle preference (RM-Team Lead, Investment Specialist, Investment Officer, VP Wealth, AVP Wealth), you must list three different Circles and no change is allowed later — check the circle-wise vacancy table in the official notification carefully before choosing, since VP Wealth and AVP Wealth vacancies are heavily concentrated in Bengaluru, New Delhi, and a handful of other circles, with several circles offering zero VP/AVP Wealth posts at all.

What Happens After Selection
Shortlisting is provisional and without document verification; candidature is subject to full verification against original documents when a candidate reports for interview. Engagement is subject to the candidate being declared medically fit as per Bank requirements, and to the Bank's service and conduct rules for the post. At interview, candidates must disclose any pending criminal cases, and the Bank may independently verify police records before deciding on engagement. Selected candidates get a 5-year contract (renewable for another 4 years at the Bank's discretion) and 30 days' leave per financial year; the contract can be terminated by either side with 2 months' notice or 2 months' compensation in lieu. Outstation candidates called for interview are reimbursed travel fare for the shortest route (or actual cost, whichever is lower) by the eligible mode mentioned in the call letter — local conveyance is not reimbursed.
