This recruitment has been revised twice by corrigendum: the vacancy count grew from 1,401 to 2,007 (adding posts from the Excise & Taxation Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner, Moga), and the application deadline was pushed out accordingly. Eligibility & Age Limit

Age is reckoned as on 1 January 2026. Minimum age is 18 years for all categories, and maximum age is 37 years for General category. Punjab-resident SC and BC candidates get a maximum age of 42 years. State/Central Government employees can get relaxation up to a maximum age of 45 years, but need an NOC from their department at counseling. Punjab-resident Divyang (disabled) candidates get a maximum age of 47 years (a 10-year relaxation). Widows, divorcees, and certain other categories of married women get relaxation up to 40 years, per a specific 1984 Government of Punjab letter. Punjab-resident Ex-servicemen get the upper age limit as per the Punjab Recruitment of Ex-Servicemen Rules, 1982, as amended.

Salary & Pay Scale

Selected candidates draw pay in the scale of ₹18,000–₹56,900, Level-1 of the 7th Pay Commission pay matrix, governed by specific Punjab Finance Department instructions. This is a real pay-matrix band, not a fixed stipend, so selected candidates start near the lower end and move up through periodic increments, with other admissible allowances added as per Punjab government rules.

How Are Candidates Selected

Written Examination (Objective MCQ) — Part A is a Matriculation-standard Punjabi language paper, qualifying only; you need a minimum of 50% here regardless of your other scores, or you're disqualified from the merit list entirely. Part B is the subject paper that alone determines your merit position — 1 mark per question, with 1/4 mark deducted for each wrong answer.

Tie-breaking — If candidates tie on Part-B marks, the one with the earlier date of birth (older) ranks higher; if age also ties, the candidate with a higher percentage in the required educational qualification ranks higher.

Document Verification / Counseling — Candidates are shortlisted from the merit list; the number called is decided by the Board. Successful candidates are recommended to their department based on the Common Merit List and category-wise post availability. What Happens After Selection

Successful candidates are recommended to their respective department per the Common Merit List and category-wise post availability. If any document is later found false, the candidate's name is removed from the merit list, eligibility is cancelled, and legal action may follow. No TA/DA is paid for appearing in the written exam or counseling.
