Eligibility & Age Limit

Age is fixed by birth-date window rather than a plain number: General category candidates must be born between 02.01.1986 and 01.01.2008 (both days inclusive) — roughly 18 to 40 years old. SC/ST candidates get a wider window, born between 02.01.1981 and 01.01.2008 (up to roughly 45 years). OBC candidates must be born between 02.01.1983 and 01.01.2008 (up to roughly 43 years). Ex-servicemen, ex-General Reserve Engineer Force personnel, and disembodied Territorial Army personnel can exclude their service period plus unemployment period (up to a maximum of 5 years) from their age, provided they haven't crossed 50 years. Candidates with Low Vision or Deaf/Hard of Hearing disabilities get up to 15 years' age concession, and other benchmark-disability categories get 10 years — in no case can the upper age limit exceed 50 years. Widows get a 5-year relaxation, also capped at age 50.

Salary & Pay Scale

The post carries the Kerala state pay scale of ₹23,700–₹52,600. This is a pay-scale range rather than a fixed stipend, so selected candidates start at the lower end and move up through periodic increments as per Kerala Government pay rules.

Application Fee

₹600 for General and OBC candidates. SC/ST candidates and unemployed differently abled candidates are exempted from the fee. Fee can be paid using the system-generated Fee Payment Challan (offline, at the window above) or online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI. Bank transaction charges, if any, are borne by the candidate. Demand Draft, Cheque, Money Order, and Postal Order are not accepted. Fee once paid is not refunded on any account and cannot be held in reserve for any other exam — except if the High Court itself cancels the notification, in which case the fee is refunded to the candidate's bank account.

How to Apply

Written Test + Interview mode — If used instead (depending on the volume of valid applications), the written test has 100 objective multiple-choice questions in English, 1 mark each, with 1/4 mark deducted for every wrong answer, over a 75-minute duration; minimum 40 marks are needed to qualify. The syllabus is based on the Diploma in Gardening, VHSE-Nursery Management and Ornamental Gardening, VHSE-Agriculture (Plant Protection), and VHSE-Agriculture curricula. The interview that follows carries 10 marks. The written test, if conducted, will be held at Ernakulam.
