- Matriculation pass or equivalent.
- Must be conversant with the use and maintenance of all types of extinguishers, hose fittings and fire appliances and equipment like fire engines, trailers, fire pumps, foam branches etc.
- All first aid, firefighting, and trailer fire pump maintenance and operation must be understood.
- Must know elementary principles of Fire Fighting employed in fighting different types of fire.
- Must be conversant with foot and appliance Fire Service Drills and be able to perform the task allotted to the member of a Fire Crew.
- Must have completed the examination outlined in Paragraph 7 below and be physically healthy and able to execute demanding tasks.
